This decision is based on information from the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, in application of the Specific Plan for Emergencies in the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA). The entry of a humid and unstable air mass is expected, which will cause irregularly distributed rainfall on the island.
The showers, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms, could accumulate significant amounts in short periods. In the midlands and north/east slopes of the other larger islands, weak to moderate, occasionally persistent, rainfall is expected during the first half of the day. In the afternoon, weak/occasional showers or rainfall are possible on the south slopes and interiors of the larger islands due to diurnal evolution.
An accumulated rainfall of 15 mm per hour and 60 mm in 12 hours is forecast. The Directorate General of Emergencies urges the public to follow the self-protection advice.
