Under the title ‘Multispecies Cities: Urbanism for a Living Planet’, the session aims to reflect on the need for urban models that integrate the needs of people alongside those of the various species and natural systems.
It will feature presentations by Juan Francisco Rodríguez García, a Marine Sciences graduate and environmental educator, who will present ‘Anthropogenic Flows. Challenges to Maximize the Ecosystem Functions of Our Marine Environment’, addressing the relationship between human activities and the marine environment, particularly relevant in the Canary Islands.
For his part, Gustavo Tejera Betancor, a Higher Technician in Environmental Education and Control and a specialist in conservation, will deliver the talk ‘Renaturalizing the Urbanite’, focusing on recovering the connection with nature in urban environments and bringing biodiversity closer to daily life.
This seventh session of the cycle, organized by Sinergias In & Out in collaboration with the Arrecife City Council through its Urbanism and Culture departments, continues the line of work on caring for people, ecosystems, and territories in urban debate.
The cycle has previously addressed topics such as biodiversity, food, territorial planning, and nature-based solutions, inviting an understanding of cities as shared territories where different life forms interact and depend on each other.
