Arrecife's cultural program for October begins this Thursday, the 1st, with the literary encounter ‘Islands Under Suspicion’ at 7:00 PM in the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz. This event, promoted by Editorial Siete Islas, will feature the presentation of two suspense novels set in island territories: ‘The Island on Fire’ by Mar Arias Couce and ‘The Hollow Mother’ by Ismael Lozano Latorre.
On Saturday, October 3rd, the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz will host the performance by Cuarteto Improntu at 12:00 PM, marking the start of the five-concert series for the Noon Canarias Festival, which will take place every Saturday of the month. The following concerts will feature Vientar Trío (10th), Telmo Carvajal (17th), Dúo Fraute (24th), and Cuarteto Imprevisto (31st).
On the same Saturday, the 3rd, Plaza de Altavista will be the stage for ‘Nature Sound’, an artistic and musical gathering promoted by Rofe, with performances by Desidia (6:00 PM) and Beilish (7:00 PM).
The agenda continues on Tuesday the 6th with the announcement of the results of the IV Elisa Betancort Delgado Drawing and Painting Contest at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz (7:00 PM), organized by the Social and Cultural Association for Women Mararía. On Saturday the 10th, the Civic Center will host workshops as part of the International Oral Narration Festival Palabras al Vuelo, organized by the cultural collective Trib-Arte.
Also on Saturday, the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz will screen the silent film ‘Bad Men’ at 8:00 PM, accompanied on the piano by Ernesto Alemán, in a new session of the Modern Times Festival promoted by the Nino Díaz Foundation.
On Wednesdays the 14th and 21st, starting at 5:00 PM, the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz will host workshops as part of the Lanzarote Literature Festival, promoted by the Cultural Association Picón Narrativa with the literary direction of writer Carlos Battaglini.
On Thursday the 15th, at 7:00 PM, the book ‘The Library of Dead Writers’ by Miguel Aguerralde will be presented at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz.
The Traslación Dance Festival, promoted by GestionArt-e and El Jablero Cía. Danza under the direction of Acerina H. Toledo, will also feature prominently this October with performances in various public spaces of the city on Friday the 23rd and Thursday the 29th.
On Friday the 23rd, the Children's Library of the Civic Center will host another session of the children's emotional project ‘Cuento Contigo’ (5:00 PM), led by La Mar de Bien, focusing on fear and shame.
Finally, on Saturday the 31st, the Argana Alta Sociocultural Center will be the venue for a new performance of ‘Sabatea: Theater in the Neighborhoods’ by the company Artus Teatro y Vida, starting at 11:30 AM. On this occasion, En Cia de la Bestia will offer a fun and educational mime piece for family enjoyment.
As usual, all activities programmed by Cultura Arrecife for October are free admission until full capacity.
