The streets of Arrecife transformed last night into a theatrical stage for the 'Ruta de Finaos', organized by the Department of Culture, which recreated Lanzarote's funeral traditions through a family's story.

The Regañiza Performing Arts Company, directed by Germán Barrios and featuring twelve actors and actresses, starred in the performance written by Salvador Leal. The play narrated the adventures of a family from Tahíche who had to transport a deceased member to Teguise for burial, coinciding with the end of church interments.
The story focused on the complicated journey of the body, carried on stretchers by a humble family, and their encounters with neighbors and situations reflecting the beliefs and customs of the society at that time. Humor was a key element in the performance, which brought ancient traditions related to death and burials closer to the audience.
The route concluded in the San Ginés church square, where attendees shared a moment of gathering with wine and roasted chestnuts, in a closing that matched the traditional atmosphere of the 'Noche de Finaos' (All Souls' Eve).
The Councilor for Culture, Abigail González, highlighted the positive reception of the initiative and thanked the company and all participants for their involvement in recovering the popular memory of Lanzarote through performing arts.
