The Tías Town Council, in collaboration with the Local Police and an authorized scrapyard, has removed 17 abandoned vehicles from public roads in Mácher, Puerto del Carmen, and Tías, continuing its urban cleanup campaign.

This recent action follows the removal of 17 other vehicles sent to the scrapyard during March and April, as well as 14 cars removed earlier in the year. The initiative aims to free up space on the streets and improve the appearance of the localities.
The process for removing these vehicles begins when they remain parked for over a month, showing damage and clear signs of abandonment. Once the vehicle's condition is confirmed, the Town Council sends a formal request to the owner, giving them the opportunity to remove it voluntarily.
If one month passes from the notification without the vehicle being removed, its transfer to an authorized treatment center for destruction is ordered. This administrative procedure ensures that all legal steps are followed before the final disposal of the automobiles.
