The Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote and La Graciosa handled a total of 792 incidents between January and June 2026. Of these, 327 took place in Arrecife, representing 41% of all emergencies recorded across the island.
The general activity of firefighters increased by 4.34% compared to the same period in 2025, when 759 interventions were recorded. The most frequent services were technical assistance, with 195 interventions (25% of the total), followed by fire suppression, with 178 actions (22%).
The report also includes 79 rescues (29 related to animals and 25 to hikers, mainly in Yaiza and Tinajo), 74 preventive standby services, 52 interventions in traffic accidents, and 41 property access openings. Additionally, two drowning deaths were recorded in aquatic rescue incidents.
The Consortium's president, Francisco J. Aparicio, highlighted the firefighters' "permanent operational readiness" and the public's trust in a service active 24 hours a day.
By municipality, after Arrecife (327 services), followed Yaiza (111), Teguise (104), Tías (82), San Bartolomé (70), Haría (36), Tinajo (36), and La Graciosa (26).
The Central Fire Station in Arrecife handled the largest workload with 584 services, compared to 182 by the Southern Fire Station and 26 by the team in La Graciosa.
A notable figure is the 40.5% decrease in container fires, with 22 interventions compared to 37 in 2025, suggesting a lower incidence of vandalism against urban furniture. However, vehicle fires increased, with 35 cases, five more than the previous year, nearly half of which occurred in Arrecife.
