The capital of Lanzarote is preparing for a September full of free cultural activities for all audiences. The City Council's culture department, led by councilwoman Abigail González, has designed a diverse proposal encompassing theater, music, literature, conferences, exhibitions, and workshops. The aim is to transform the neighborhoods' public spaces into meeting points for citizens' enjoyment.
The program kicks off on Thursday, September 3rd. In the afternoon, the Sociocultural Center of Argana Baja will host the children's puppet show ‘Único’ at 6:00 PM. Later, at 7:30 PM, the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture will be the stage for the ‘Conciertos Hablados’ series, with the ‘Fusión’ session directed by Ciro Corujo.
During September 4th, 5th, 9th, and 10th, the Sociocultural Center of Argana Baja will also host the ‘Arrecife crea arte’ workshops. Classical music will have a prominent space with the Noon Canarias Festival at the House of Culture, featuring midday concerts with Ensemble Durón (Saturday 5th), Trío Néstor (Saturday 19th), and Alexis Cárdenas (Saturday 26th).
The first fortnight of the month concludes with a conference by Mani Modhwadia in Argana Baja on Tuesday the 8th (7:00 PM). On Wednesday the 9th, the House of Culture will host a forum on racism and the ‘OBITen’ exhibition, as part of the III State Encounter on Migrations. Additionally, on September 10th, Cultura Arrecife will begin its participation in the 37th Insular Craft Fair in Mancha Blanca. On Friday the 11th, pianist Natalia Nikolaeva will perform a concert within the Tiempos Modernos Festival at the House of Culture (8:00 PM).
The second half of September will continue with a vibrant agenda. On Friday the 18th, the Civic Center of San Francisco Javier will present the storytelling session ‘Mujeres que cuentan’ by Vicki Dos Santos (6:00 PM).
On the 24th and 25th, the House of Culture will host conferences on journalism and technology given by Concha Langa and Celso Almuiña, in addition to children's sessions of ‘Cuento Contigo’. The grand finale will be on Saturday the 26th: at 11:30 AM, the Sociocultural Center of Valterra will present the play ‘Clowneando’ from the ‘Sabatea: teatro en los barrios’ program. The day will conclude at 7:00 PM in the Plaza de Argana Alta with the ‘Arrecife: Naturaleza Sonora’ series and the performance by Bárbara Calypso.
All activities organized by Cultura Arrecife are free admission until full capacity.
