The call responds to the agreed increase in the number of taxi licenses, aiming to strengthen the public transport offering and meet the mobility needs of residents and visitors. The mayor, Olivia Duque, highlighted that this expansion is an "important step to continue improving the taxi service and respond to the mobility needs of neighbors and visitors," adding that the corporation aims to "continue working so that Teguise has a sufficient, accessible transport service adapted to the reality of a large municipality with diverse population centers."
For his part, the councilor for Transport, Javier Díaz, emphasized the importance of "continuing to advance in the improvement of municipal public services," and stated that the license expansion will "increase the service's capacity and offer new opportunities to professionals" in the municipality.
The bases of the call establish as a preferential merit the seniority of salaried drivers or self-employed collaborators with accredited service in Teguise. If these applications do not cover the six licenses, individuals who meet the requirements may opt for the remaining ones.
Among the conditions, applicants must be individuals, possess the required driving license and the municipal taxi driver's permit, be active and up-to-date with their tax and Social Security obligations. Vehicles must be no older than two years, have a capacity of between five and nine seats, and be equipped with a taximeter and external module. The two adapted licenses must comply with municipal accessibility regulations.
The deadline for submitting applications is September 28. Interested parties can register at the General Registry of the Teguise City Council, on the municipal electronic headquarters, or through other legal means.
With this initiative, the Teguise City Council continues to expand and improve its taxi service, incorporating new licenses and particularly strengthening the availability of adapted vehicles to ensure more accessible mobility for the entire population.
