The capital of Lanzarote is solidifying its status as a crucial hub for cruise tourism, surpassing 407,000 visitors in the first seven months of 2026. This significant 15.98% rise places the port of Arrecife at the forefront of growth among state ports in the two Canary provinces.
Official data from the Port Authority of Las Palmas highlights Arrecife's increasing importance in the Archipelago's cruise traffic. The port facilities in Arrecife, encompassing Naos, Cruceros, and Los Mármoles, contribute substantially, accounting for over 30% of the entity's revenue linked to tourist cruise activity.
This momentum follows a robust autumn and winter season and the commencement of the 2026-2027 pre-season. Cruise lines have requested approximately one hundred calls scheduled until the end of December, anticipating a continued positive trend in activity.

Activity will intensify this Monday, August 31st, with the arrival of the Oceania Allura, a medium-sized luxury cruise ship inaugurated in 2025. This vessel, part of the Allura class, features 11 decks and 613 cabins, and is expected to arrive in Arrecife with around 2,000 people on board before continuing its itinerary towards Barcelona.
Projections suggest that Arrecife could exceed 720,000 cruise passenger arrivals by the end of 2026, marking a new historical record. This increase in cruise arrivals has a direct economic impact on the capital, particularly benefiting retail and the restaurant sector.
Unlike other European destinations where the peak cruise season is concentrated in spring and summer, the period of highest activity in the Canary Islands primarily occurs between September and April. Arrecife has hosted both large vessels and boutique cruises targeting high-net-worth travelers, thereby diversifying its tourism offerings.
