The Department of Festivities has launched this initiative, allowing Arrecife residents to decide the central theme of one of the municipality's most emblematic celebrations. This participatory process seeks to strengthen the bond between citizens and the event.
The voting period began on Monday, April 20, and will remain active until 11:59 PM on May 6. Interested individuals can cast their vote through the official platform provided by the council. The final result will be announced on May 7, marking the beginning of the creative phase for the next carnival edition.
This stage concludes a process that started on March 25, when carnival groups submitted their proposals. Out of eight initiatives received, six have been selected as finalists, with two being discarded due to similarities with previous years' themes. The available options for voting include: One Thousand and One Nights, Marine World, Magical Creatures. Enchanted Universe, Seafaring Carnival, Atlantis Steampunk. The Copper Reef, and Realms of Fairies.
“"The greater the involvement, the more representative the chosen allegory will be."
A municipal official highlighted the importance of this participatory model, which allows carnival groups to directly engage in defining the identity of the festivities. This methodology gives a voice to the groups that work year-round in carnival preparation, ensuring a result that reflects popular sentiment and strengthens the celebration's roots.
The selection of the allegory through popular vote is a strategy to foster innovation and prevent the repetition of themes. The exclusion of proposals similar to past editions aligns with the objective of maintaining the freshness and originality of the Arrecife Carnival.
