The Arrecife City Council has initiated the process to contract the organization of the Canary Islands Day events, scheduled for May 29 and 30 at the fairgrounds, with a budget of 106,400 euros.

The decision to move the celebrations to the fairgrounds, located next to the Cabildo, is due to a more modest program of events compared to previous years. Previously, José Ramírez Cerdá Park had been the chosen venue for these festivities.
The deadline for submitting proposals for this tender, amounting to just over 106,400 euros, will be open until May 11. This budget contrasts sharply with the nearly half-million-euro expenditure made in 2025 for similar events.

The aim is to have the award finalized before May 18, allowing a week and a half for the necessary setups.

The budget reduction is linked to an ongoing judicial investigation related to events sponsored by the Consistory the previous year, where fragmentation and numerous objections from Intervention were detected.
The selected company will be responsible for all necessary tasks for the event's implementation, from program development and infrastructure contracting to logistics, dissemination, and the preparation of the final justifying report. The main setup is expected to occupy an area of 1,200 square meters.
