The competition, one of the most significant events in Canary Islands cruising yacht racing, officially began following the event's presentation and the skippers' meeting at the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife (RCNA). The 13 participating boats faced challenging conditions off El Reducto beach, with northeasterly winds reaching 20 knots.
The boat 'Macaco', skippered by Lucio Pérez Aranaz and representing the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, took the lead in the overall standings with four points, securing a first and a second place. The minimal difference with its rivals leaves the competition wide open.
Meanwhile, 'Maeña 9', under the command of Andrés Martín Monje Batista, demonstrated a strong performance by winning both races held. This Tenerife-based vessel leads its division (Group 4) and is tied on points with the overall leader, occupying the second provisional position.
Another notable boat was the 'Teguise Lanzarote Sailing Paradise', skippered by Alejandro Morales Quintana. Despite a penalty for an On Course Side (OCS) start in the first race, the team reacted with a partial victory in the second, placing them fourth in their group.
The general classification remains very tight. 'Cachito', skippered by Augusto Escolar, is third with seven points, followed by 'Sorcery', helmed by Antonio L. Hernández Manchado, with twelve points. The final day promises maximum excitement.
The César Manrique Trophy is part of the Canary Islands High-Level Circuit. The regatta is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife and Calero Marinas, with Marina Lanzarote serving as the host port. It is supported by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Arrecife City Council, and in collaboration with Cicar, Balearia, and Hotel Miramar.
