The island of Lanzarote has surpassed 177,000 inhabitants at the beginning of the summer of 2026, consolidating a constant growth trend that has doubled the figures recorded at the turn of the century.

Unofficial municipal census records confirm an increase of 1,800 people compared to the same period last year. This figure places the island at a new demographic peak, exceeding the 175,200 residents counted in the summer of 2025.
Arrecife remains the municipality with the largest population, housing more than 72,500 residents. The capital has experienced an increase of nearly 800 inhabitants over the last year, establishing itself as the main driver of this census growth.
Across the rest of the island, the situation varies. While Yaiza has also recorded significant growth with nearly 800 new residents, reaching 20,300, other municipalities such as Teguise and Haría show greater stability, with minimal variations in their local records over the last twelve months.
Meanwhile, Tías reports moderate growth, exceeding 23,300 inhabitants, while San Bartolomé shows a slight decline in its estimates, standing at around 22,550 residents. Finally, Tinajo maintains stable population levels, hovering around 7,100 inhabitants.
