The installation of a telecommunications antenna in the heart of Masdache has caused deep dissatisfaction among residents, who denounce the lack of communication and unfulfilled commitments by the Cabildo and the Tías City Council.
Despite months of protests, including public statements and demonstrations, the telecommunications antenna has been permanently installed in the center of Masdache. The affected residents, organized under the platform Masdache Se Protege, have issued a public letter sharply criticizing the actions of the institutions.
“
"Silence has been the only response. There have been no new calls, no explanations, not even the slightest gesture of respect towards those of us who live here."
According to the communication, the installation of the receivers confirms the residents' fears, who believe that decisions are not being made with the community's well-being in mind. They had been assured that alternatives would be sought and dialogue channels would be opened with the telecommunications company, in addition to keeping them informed, but these promises have not materialized.
“
"Masdache is not an empty place. It is a living village, with identity, history, and residents who deserve to be heard. What is happening is not just a technical or administrative matter: it is a clear sign of institutional disregard."
The letter concludes by demanding immediate explanations, transparency, and respect, emphasizing that the current situation in Masdache should not be normalized or accepted as an inevitable cost of progress, and that it must not be repeated in the future.
