Eleven crew members of a fishing vessel were rescued this Sunday by Salvamento Marítimo after their boat was left adrift over 100 kilometers from Arrecife de Lanzarote due to a machinery failure, and are now being towed to the island.

The crew of a fishing vessel, consisting of eleven people, was rescued on Sunday morning after their boat was left adrift more than 100 kilometers from Arrecife de Lanzarote due to a machinery failure. The rescue was carried out by personnel from Salvamento Marítimo, who are currently towing the boat towards the island.
The emergency situation was reported to the Las Palmas Coordination Center of Salvamento Marítimo via a distress call made shortly after two in the morning. Sources from the state-owned company reported that, in response, the rescue vessel Salvamar Al Nair was dispatched to the area.
Concurrently, other vessels transiting the area were alerted to request their cooperation in pinpointing the exact location of the distressed vessel. The ship Ciudad de Valencia responded to the alert, located the fishing boat, and remained nearby, monitoring for safety until the arrival of the Salvamar Al Nair.
Due to the significant distance, estimated at 70 nautical miles from Arrecife, the rescue vessel could not establish a firm tow until nine in the morning. It was then that the return journey to Lanzarote began.
The fishing boat is not expected to dock until around eight in the evening or night, owing to the length of the journey. Sources from Salvamento Marítimo confirmed the good health of the eleven crew members, although they could not provide details on the name of the fishing boat or its home port.
