Maritime Rescue has rescued 77 people of sub-Saharan origin, including six women and three minors, who were traveling on a makeshift boat located about 64 kilometers east of Lanzarote.

The precarious vessel, which had departed from the Moroccan coast of Tan Tan heading for the Canary Islands, was spotted by a merchant ship in the area.
The Maritime Rescue center in Las Palmas received the alert around 11:00 AM and dispatched the Salvamar Acrux unit. The merchant vessel Eptalofos assisted by keeping the boat in sight until the rescue team arrived.
The rescue was completed at 2:06 PM. The 77 migrants are expected to arrive at Puerto Naos, in Arrecife, around 5:00 PM.
