The cultural sites Monument to the Peasant and Cactus Garden, located in San Bartolomé, have introduced specialized chairs to facilitate visitor mobility and evacuation. This initiative is supported by the Centers of Art, Culture, and Tourism and the Treasury Department of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
María Jesús Tovar, representing the institution, highlighted the commitment to financial accessibility so that tourist centers can be enjoyed by everyone, preserving the legacy of César Manrique. Ángel Vázquez, also from the Cabildo, emphasized that improving accessibility goes beyond simply having equipment, stressing the importance of staff training for its effective use.
In addition to the chairs, the centers have implemented a new auditory accessibility system using Visualfy technology. This system employs electronic devices with microphones and artificial intelligence algorithms to recognize specific sounds such as emergency alarms, doorbells, or public address announcements. Upon detecting a relevant sound, it generates immediate notifications through visual signals, vibrations, or alerts on mobile devices via an associated app.
