The Gáldar City Council, in collaboration with Gran Canaria Tourism, announces the twelfth edition of FotoSub Sardina, to be held from October 2nd to 4th.

The Gáldar City Council, through the Tourism Department, led by Ulises Miranda Guerra, and in collaboration with the Socioeconomic Development Department, headed by Tine Martín, along with Gran Canaria Tourism, has announced the celebration of the XII edition of FotoSub Sardina. The event will take place on October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and has already opened registration through its official website.
During these dates, underwater photography teams will dive into the bay of Sardina with the aim of capturing the most striking underwater images and competing for numerous prizes. The classic categories include CazaFotoSub for freediving photography and Open Fotosub. For the second consecutive year, the Reels Challenge, a competition for short vertical videos for content creators, is being repeated, with registration closing on August 12th. Technical supervision for all competitions will be provided by Pedro Almeida, founder and technical director of the event.
The CazaFotoSub category, focused on freediving photography, will take place on Friday. Competitors will have five hours in the water to photograph the largest number of different species, facing the challenge of identifying over 80 species without diving tanks. This category offers a total of 1,800 euros in prizes.
The Open Fotosub will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, in pairs. Aiming to attract high-level professionals from all over Spain, this twelfth edition features a renewed rulebook and a total prize fund of 5,200 euros.
Finally, the Reels Challenge will take place during the month of September. With 15 available spots, participation is in pairs for the creation of a one-minute reel highlighting the cultural and tourist richness of our marine depths, competing for 1,000 euros in cash prizes.
The event will also include activities such as an introduction to diving (prior registration required) and the School Fotosub, where students will develop snorkeling routes.
