The Tías City Council has initiated a comprehensive study to understand and mitigate the effects of stormwater, particularly in Puerto del Carmen and the municipal capital, aiming to implement lasting solutions.

This analysis, expected to be completed by next summer, seeks to provide a detailed assessment of the issues to be addressed in the most affected areas. The initiative comes in response to frequent water accumulations during periods of significant rainfall, which cause inconvenience, safety risks, and damage to public spaces.
The preparation of this technical document has been awarded to the company Perforaciones y Sondeos La Cañada, with a budget of almost 639,200 euros. The selection was made from two bids, with the lower-cost option being chosen, as reported in official media this week.
The study will include a hydrogeological assessment across various routes, using drilling and soundings, to analyze subsoil materials, their characteristics, and existing water levels. Additionally, a hydrogeological model will be developed to evaluate the feasibility of filtering wells as a system for controlled diversion of stormwater into the subsoil.
The goal is to adopt a technical and scientific approach that ensures informed decision-making. Based on the results obtained, some of the proposed measures will become definitive, in line with municipal forecasts.
