This cultural event, established as one of Lanzarote's most significant artistic gatherings, will take place on Saturday, April 18, at 7:00 PM in the Tías Municipal Sports Pavilion. The day will showcase local talent and the training efforts carried out throughout the year on the island.
The event is organized by the Beatrice Senent Dance School, with the support of the Tías City Council. Although currently known as International Dance Day, its origins date back to 2003 under the name Concentración de Danza, at a time when Lanzarote lacked specific venues and major events dedicated to this artistic discipline.
Over more than two decades, the initiative has evolved significantly, adapting to the cultural and social changes of the island. Fifteen years ago, it adopted its current name, solidifying its place as a stable celebration in the island's cultural calendar and transforming into a space for artistic and educational coexistence.
More than 500 children and young people will participate in this edition, performing choreographies in various styles, from classical to contemporary, along with other modern disciplines. This massive participation highlights the event's growth and its role as a platform for showcasing emerging talent in Lanzarote.
“"These types of initiatives contribute to strengthening social cohesion and creating spaces for community gathering."
The Tías City Council has emphasized the educational and social value of dance. Mayor José Juan Cruz highlighted how these activities foster social cohesion. Meanwhile, Culture Councilor Pepa González pointed out the project's evolution thanks to the joint effort of schools, teachers, and students. Deputy Mayor Nicolás Saavedra underscored dance's role in promoting discipline, teamwork, and emotional expression from an early age.
The head of the Beatrice Senent Dance School highlighted the collective nature of the event, which has become an intergenerational meeting point where learning, creativity, and experiences are shared. The International Dance Day in Tías has established itself as a cultural benchmark in Lanzarote, with continuous support from the Tías City Council, which champions culture as a driver of social development and territorial cohesion.
The event, which is free and open to all citizens, expects a large audience, facilitating access to culture and strengthening the involvement of the local community. With this fifteenth edition, the International Dance Day in Tías reaffirms its position as one of Lanzarote's main cultural events, promoting training, talent, and creativity in the island's cultural life.
