The Tías City Council has successfully integrated its three Early Childhood and Primary Education Centers into the Canary Islands Government's Eco-Canteens program, positioning the municipality as the first in Lanzarote to offer this service in all its schools.

This initiative benefits approximately 440 individuals, including both students and teachers, reinforcing the commitment to healthy and sustainable eating in school canteens. The service is managed by local companies that prioritize organic and zero-kilometer products.
The implementation of this project in the CEIP Alcalde Rafael Cedrés, Concepción Rodríguez Artiles, and La Asomada-Mácher schools was driven by the Tías City Council, thanks to the collaboration between the departments of Social Welfare and Education, and the council's Office of Agroecology and Rural Development. Enrollment for the next school year is currently open to families.
Adherence to this program has significantly improved the nutritional quality of meals offered to students, incorporating fresh, seasonal, and highly nutritious products, many of which are grown on the island itself.
Furthermore, this measure provides a boost for organic fruit and vegetable producers in Lanzarote, expanding their commercialization channels and fostering the local economy, while also reducing environmental impact.
