A total of 125 children, adolescents, and 15 professionals linked to the field of childhood and adolescent education and social work participated in these workshops. The initiative, launched by the Island Childhood Service as part of the II Insular Plan for Childhood and Adolescence of Fuerteventura, aimed to foster responsible technology use.
The activities took place in two distinct work areas. At the Antigua Youth Center, professionals attended workshops on 'Digital Coexistence and Healthy Habits,' addressing challenges such as cyberbullying and hyperconnectivity, and 'Positive, Active, and Responsible Use of Technology,' reflecting on digital opportunities.
Concurrently, at CEO Antigua, the workshop ‘Inside the Screen: Emotions, Networks, and Me’ was aimed at 5th and 6th-grade Primary Education and 1st-year ESO students. Through participatory dynamics, children and adolescents reflected on the influence of social media, video games, and messaging apps on their emotions and personal relationships, also addressing aspects like social pressure and digital identity.
A notable moment was the final meeting between students and professionals, which created a space for dialogue and joint reflection on the challenges posed by technology use in daily life. The recommendations from the students largely coincided with those from the professionals, highlighting shared concerns and proposals for improving digital coexistence.
