The Predyn-Onc group, based at the Canary Islands Health Research Institute (IISC), focuses on personalized medicine in oncology and genetics. It brings together professionals from various specialties including Medical Oncology, Nutrition, Pathological Anatomy, Molecular Biology, and Dermatology, aiming to enhance oncological care.
Its main line of work centers on identifying prognostic and predictive biomarkers. These markers will help better understand disease progression, anticipate treatment responses, and detect the risk of adverse effects. Translational research aims to bridge scientific discoveries with clinical practice, improving treatment efficacy, reducing toxicity, and preserving patients' quality of life.
A specific project, named R-CIRCLES and led by oncologist Mora Guardamagna from the Gran Canaria University Hospital Doctor Negrín, analyzes the influence of treatment administration timing and inflammatory markers in lung cancer patients. This project received a 7,000 euro research grant from the College of Physicians of Las Palmas for the 2026-2027 period and is managed by the Canary Islands Health Research Foundation (FIISC).
Predyn-Onc promotes collaboration among different specialties and healthcare centers across the archipelago, inviting professionals from the Canary Islands Health Service to participate in its research lines to foster joint projects and generate synergies.
