The weather forecast indicates that today will be the most adverse day for Fuerteventura regarding calima and heat, within the episode affecting the archipelago. According to Inocente Carralero, technician at Civil Protection and Emergency Services of 112 Canarias, a clear improvement is expected from tomorrow onwards, with the situation concluding by Thursday.
Carralero explained that this episode has presented tropical characteristics, with medium cloudiness mixed with calima. He noted that there have been moments with significant dust concentrations, exceeding 200 micrograms per cubic meter, indicating substantial calima intensities.
“"There have been moments with quite large dust concentrations, we have seen that over 200 micrograms per cubic meter have been exceeded, which are really significant calima intensities."
The technician from Civil Protection and Emergency Services of 112 Canarias reiterated the importance of following self-protection advice, especially for vulnerable individuals.
