Traffic Closures in Fuerteventura for La Peña Festivals

Access restrictions to Vega de Río Palmas and special bus services will be implemented on September 18th and 19th.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has announced special traffic measures for access to the Vega de Río Palmas due to the Festivals in Honor of Our Lady of La Peña, taking place from September 17th to 20th.

The main traffic closure will affect access between the Valle de Santa Inés roundabout and the Vega de Río Palmas. Traffic will be cut off from 6:00 PM on Friday, September 18th, until 3:00 AM on Saturday, September 19th. For safety reasons, this schedule may be modified. Access to the Vega via Pájara will remain open.
Additionally, traffic restrictions will be in place in the Vega de Río Palmas area from 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 17th, until 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 20th. A diversion route will be set up via a conditioned path in the ravine.
These measures are part of a special operation coordinated in the Security Board. Representatives from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, the Betancuria City Council, the State Administration, as well as emergency services including SPEIS, Guardia Civil, Local Police, Firefighters, and Civil Protection participated in the meeting.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura reminds the public that special bus services will operate on September 18th and 19th. Residents are advised to plan their journeys, follow the instructions of security services, and utilize public transport.
