The Los Realejos Volunteer Firefighters have conditioned a new practice area on a municipal plot in the La Gañanía Industrial Park. This space, ceded by the City Council, is being adapted by the volunteers themselves to carry out simulations and training for emergency response and resolution.
During a guided tour by Volunteer Firefighter representatives, Mayor Adolfo González and the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Carolina Toste, were shown the different areas of the land. They have been subdivided to create practice modules and scenarios, using several recycled transport containers that are being rehabilitated to simulate various emergency situations.
The new area will include storage and logistics spaces, a safe area for fire and extinction simulations, and a space for rescue practice on vehicles or other obstacles. The objective is to create a versatile area that allows for the modification of its scenarios to practice the widest possible range of emergency situations within this fenced and video-surveilled plot.
Mayor Adolfo González highlighted the "important altruistic work" of the Volunteer Firefighters, emphasizing their support for the Local Police and Civil Protection, and their collaboration with the Tenerife Firefighters Consortium. He underscored the "will and dedication" of these volunteers, who have undertaken the adaptation of the land themselves, dedicating their time and effort to improving their preparedness.
For her part, Carolina Toste recalled the City Council's continuous support, mentioning a subsidy allocated for 2026 amounting to 52,500 euros. These funds will cover current expenses, insurance, rent for the fire station, vehicle amortization, technical training, uniforms, and equipment.
The mayor described the Los Realejos Volunteer Firefighters as an "exemplary group" that, on the verge of its 20th anniversary, has carried out "invaluable" work and continues to grow with new incorporations of people with a vocation for service, contributing to making the municipality a safer place.
