The Provincial Court of Las Palmas has sentenced five individuals for drug trafficking and membership in a criminal group, imposing prison terms of up to 11 years and multi-million euro fines.

The defendants were found guilty of introducing and distributing cocaine and heroin in the Canary Islands between 2022 and 2024. The non-final ruling, which will be appealed, confirms the seizure of over 21 kilograms of high-purity cocaine, in addition to heroin and other substances.
Sentences vary according to each member's involvement. A.I.S.P. received the highest penalty, with 11 years in prison and a fine of seven million euros. Other convicted individuals include D.M.P.S., C.S.E., C.H.O., and A.R.O.M., with sentences ranging from five to ten years and fines up to six million euros. In some cases, the sentence includes expulsion from national territory upon reaching the third degree or conditional release.

"With complete disregard for the health of others, they had been dedicated, in a concerted and habitual manner, at least since 2022 and until September 2024, to the introduction and subsequent distribution in the Canary Islands of large quantities of narcotic substances, fundamentally cocaine and heroin."

The investigation revealed that profits from this illicit activity were used to acquire assets such as properties, vehicles, and taxi licenses, as well as accumulating large sums of cash and bank account funds. Searches conducted in September 2024 at homes and garages linked to the accused led to the intervention of drugs and equipment for their preparation and distribution.
The court rejected the defense's arguments requesting the annulment of various proceedings due to alleged violations of fundamental rights, confirming the validity of the judicial actions that authorized communication interceptions and data dumps from devices.
