The Fuerteventura Council is continuing with the participatory process focused on the recovery and utilization of the Casa del Inglés. This initiative, driven by Cultural Heritage, aims to develop a consensual strategic proposal to define the future uses of this Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) in the municipality of La Oliva.
This Friday, the island corporation shared the proposals developed to date, resulting from a dialogue process involving technical, social, cultural, economic, and institutional stakeholders. During the event, held at the Raíz del Pueblo Cultural Center in La Oliva, new citizen contributions were collected, strengthening the consensus-building process for the future of the emblematic property.
The participatory process was initiated by the Council's Cultural Heritage department last March, following the completion of the first phase of a larger project for the comprehensive recovery of the building. Collaborative workshops and other dialogue spaces have been conducted, which, according to the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Rayco León, have facilitated progress towards a unified proposal for this property.
The researcher and social worker from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, José Álamo, is coordinating the project through the Canarian University Foundation of Las Palmas (FULP).
