The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through its Department of Education, has announced the reception of an upright piano from the Wagner brand. The instrument was donated by John Thomas Patterson, who wished to contribute to musical education on the island.
This new resource will become part of the Insular Music School's equipment, where students can use it for their learning and musical practice. The donation gives a new life to the piano, ensuring it continues to be played by new generations of musicians.
The island's president, Lola García, expressed her gratitude to Patterson for his generosity and sensitivity towards music education, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in extending the life of instruments and making them available for teaching and culture.
In turn, the Minister of Education, Adargoma Hernández, emphasized that "gestures like that of John Thomas Patterson demonstrate the value of citizen collaboration in the development of music education." He added, "Thanks to his generosity, an instrument that is part of his personal history can continue to be filled with music and accompany the learning of our students."
"Contributions like this help us continue bringing music closer to all citizens," concluded Hernández.
