Those interested in applying for these subsidies, aimed at strengthening the primary sector's activity in Fuerteventura, have until August 14th to submit their applications. All detailed information can be found at the Agricultural Extension Offices in Puerto del Rosario and Gran Tarajal, or via the Cabildo's official link.
The call, managed by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, is structured into three main lines. The first line (line 13) allocates 2 million euros to finance investments in agricultural, livestock, and fishing farms, aiming to modernize them and enhance their productive capacity, responding to the demands of sector professionals, as stated by the President of the Cabildo, Lola García.
The second line (line 4) supports livestock breeding, crucial for maintaining and strengthening the island's livestock population. The third line, with 75,000 euros, is specifically for Sanitary Defense Associations (ADS), entities essential for the prevention and sanitary control of livestock farms.
These subsidies are in addition to other Cabildo initiatives, such as aid for agricultural water (approximately 2 million euros) and specific grants to various groups. Thus, the Cabildo's emergency plan to maintain the primary sector's competitiveness exceeds 5 million euros this year.
Island President Lola García highlighted that the primary sector faces significant structural challenges, including double insularity and the global increase in costs. Therefore, she emphasized the importance of implementing measures to ensure the competitiveness of agricultural, livestock, and fishing activities.
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, Enrique Pérez, explained that improving the regulatory bases for these aids aims to ensure the sector's economic viability. Requirements have been adapted to facilitate access for a greater number of Fuerteventura's agricultural and marine workers, extending eligibility to small and medium-sized farms and increasing the maximum aid limit to 40,000 euros.
The minister added that the Cabildo's support is complemented by the promotion of local products and sector training, areas designed to foster generational renewal and secure the future of agriculture in Fuerteventura.
