The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, along with the island's various municipalities, has shown its support for the Government of the Canary Islands' initiative, known as Project Ganar. The main objective of this project is to foster essential values like respect, equality, and good treatment, thereby creating safe and protective sports environments for children and adolescents.
Island and municipal representatives, including the insular Minister of Sports, Luis González, and council members from different town halls, held a coordination meeting with the Director General of Physical Activity and Sports, María Rojas. This meeting focused on the implementation of this collaboration, with the active participation of technical staff from the various administrations.
Both the Island Council and the municipalities have expressed their firm commitment to actively participate in this protection network. The initiative aims to ensure that sports serve as a safe space for children and adolescents, extending its benefits to all municipalities of Fuerteventura.
During the meeting, local representatives presented specific proposals to adapt the training and awareness-raising actions of Project Ganar to the unique reality of each municipality on the island.
Project Ganar, driven by the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Physical Activity and Sports, already benefits from the support of various entities, including the foundations of UD Las Palmas and CD Tenerife, the Official College of Psychology, the National Police, and ECCA Edu, among other organizations.
