The event aims to boost the audiovisual sector and provide visibility to creativity and talent linked to the island. The presentation took place in the Plenary Hall of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.
The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, highlighted the festival's importance in showcasing Fuerteventura's audiovisual potential and creating opportunities. Meanwhile, the counselor for Fuerteventura Film Commission, Nereida Calero, encouraged participation, reminding that one does not need to be a professional to submit an idea.
Organizers Adrián Tejero and Miquel Jaume valued the initiative's continuity and its role in consolidating a festival specific to Fuerteventura, as well as promoting cultural collaboration and outreach.
The theme ‘Myths and Legends of Fuerteventura’ allows participants to portray or create stories linked to the island's culture and identity. Works, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, can be fiction, documentary, experimental, comedy, horror, animation, or video creation.
Participation is free and open to individuals of any age and place of residence, with authorization required for those under 18. Registration is done through the festival's website until 11:59 PM on November 13.
The jury, composed of three audiovisual and cultural professionals, will soon announce its verdict. The second edition increases the prize money: 1,000 euros for Best Short Film, 300 euros for second place, and 200 euros for third. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 27.
