The Governing Council of the Fuerteventura Insular Tourism Board has approved the adaptation of its 2022-2026 Strategic Tourism Plan, extending its validity until 2027 and adding new areas of action.
The extraordinary session, held at the Casa Palacio Insular in Puerto del Rosario, addressed the plan's adaptation to new supra-island financing lines. The incorporated areas include climate green alignment, destination digital transformation, and the local social impact of tourism.
Promotional activities carried out during the third quarter of 2026 in key source markets such as the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Germany, Poland, and the domestic market were also detailed. Actions highlighted included the campaign with Jet2 in Leeds, presentations to TUI Nordic in Copenhagen and Stockholm, and co-marketing campaigns with HolidayCheck and ITAKA.
In the domestic market, Fuerteventura participated as a guest island in the Magdalena en Vivo Festival in Santander and showcased its gastronomy in Madrid. Special reports were published, and co-marketing campaigns were maintained with Viajes El Corte Inglés.
The Tourism Board also hosted North American travel agents and held working sessions with agrotourism companies and international tour operators. In sports, sponsorship was provided for the World Windsurfing and Wingfoil Championship at Sotavento Beach, the Gran Tarajal Deep Sea Fishing Championship, and the Baifo Extrem in La Oliva.
Upcoming events include the Distinguished Tourism Awards Gala 2026 in the Plaza de Santa María de Betancuria and participation in the Jet2 and Destinations Convention in Leeds.
