The island of Fuerteventura will be a focal point at the FIWARE Global Summit 2026, gathering technology experts from September 9-10 in Menton, France. The island's participation extends beyond mere attendance, featuring a presentation on how a tourism data space is being used to address specific needs of businesses and territories.
FIWARE fosters an international community dedicated to enabling diverse digital solutions to exchange information and operate cohesively. It currently comprises over 650 member organizations and a global network of 49 FIWARE iHubs. Its technologies are applied in smart cities, tourism, industry, and energy, with a growing emphasis on data spaces for collaborative data utilization while maintaining control.
For Fuerteventura, this technology is particularly valuable for integrating information from tourism, environment, maritime activities, and public administrations, thereby enhancing territorial understanding and decision-making.
On September 10, Mannix Manglani, CEO of MNX Online, will present the session “TOURiLab & VISOR: Putting a Tourism Data Space to Work in Fuerteventura,” focusing on the practical application of data spaces.
MNX Online and TOURiLab Data Space will participate for the first time as supporting partners of the event, in addition to having exhibition space and speaking roles. MNX Online is a technology company actively involved in the FIWARE ecosystem, promoting TOURiLab FIWARE iHub.
Two key initiatives will be showcased: TOURiLab Data Space, initially focused on tourism and expanding to blue economy and territorial management, and VISOR. The latter application aims to combine environmental, territorial, and tourism data to provide a comprehensive view and support the management and resilience of Fuerteventura, with the Biosphere Reserve of Fuerteventura serving as a validation partner.
Jessica Gil, co-founder of the company, emphasizes the importance of presenting solutions developed in Fuerteventura on an international stage, comparing them with global experiences and connecting the island with a broad technological community.
Participation in the FIWARE Global Summit will enhance Fuerteventura's visibility in international discussions on tourism, sustainability, territorial management, blue economy, and digital transformation, while also fostering knowledge exchange and new collaborations.
