This funding is crucial for the exhibition, which will bring together over 200 artisans from various islands. The fair, recognized at both island and regional levels, is jointly organized by the Antigua City Council and the Mafasca Collective Foundation.
As preparations for the fair enter their final stages, the Cabildo de Fuerteventura's Department of Crafts is finalizing details for its institutional stand. This year, the space will be dedicated to traditional Majorero hat-making, showcasing pieces from its ethnographic collection and creations by students from the traditional hat-making course of the EnRedArte program.
“"It is important to disseminate the values of our traditional hat-making, which is part of our identity, and each exhibited piece represents the talent and dedication of Fuerteventura's craft sector."
The program for the Island Craft Fair will also include the presentation of a project for the inventory and cataloging of the work of a master cabinetmaker. This initiative, funded by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, aims to highlight the figure of this artisan and was coordinated by a conservator.
