The investigation began in early January following an increase in robbery reports in the municipality of Pájara. Agents identified a pattern: the crimes occurred at night, taking advantage of residents' sleep, and victims were primarily tourists staying at a popular hotel complex in the area.
One of the robberies involved the theft of computer equipment belonging to the Bank of Spain, which contained sensitive information, adding significant importance to the case. Detailed analysis of security camera footage was crucial in identifying the vehicle used by the criminals, a decisive lead that directed investigators to the alleged perpetrators.
A key element was a victim's report of several stolen electronic devices, including one with a geolocation system. The signal emitted by this device guided agents to a residential area in Morro Jable, coinciding with the home of one of the suspects.
The Civil Guard set up an operation at the building, where they observed a woman, the ex-partner of the main suspect, carrying a backpack. Following discreet surveillance and real-time confirmation from a victim that the stolen device's signal was moving with the woman, she was intercepted and voluntarily handed over the device. Subsequently, a thorough search of the vicinity located the backpack she had been carrying moments earlier, inside which the rest of the stolen computer equipment was found.
The two detainees were brought before the court, and the proceedings were handed over to the duty Court of First Instance and Instruction in Puerto del Rosario. The Civil Guard continues its efforts to locate and recover the remaining stolen items and does not rule out further arrests as part of this investigation.
