The Department of Culture of the Puerto del Rosario City Council has designed a varied cultural program for the Acontracultura festival, taking place from June 9 to 12. The event will encompass various disciplines such as literature, theater, and live music, culminating in a concert by the renowned band Melón Diesel in Plaza de la Paz.
Among the highlights is the participation of Ignacio Escolar, director of elDiario.es and an investigative journalist, who will give a talk on June 11 at the cultural center. This initiative aims to promote a "living culture that disturbs, excites, and above all, makes us think," according to Culture Councilor Juan Manuel Verdugo.
The festival will take place across two main stages: Plaza de la Paz and the cultural center. The opening day, June 9, will feature a literary presentation by journalist and writer Roger Mateos with his book 'El verano de los inocentes' (The Summer of the Innocents), initiating a dialogue on memory and narrative.
The following day, June 10, the theater company Antagonista Teatro will perform 'Los centros de Lorca' (Lorca's Centers) in Plaza de la Paz, exploring the boundaries of contemporary theatrical language. Music will be featured with 'Érase un Vez América' (Once Upon a Time America), a film score concert that will precede the grand closing event by Melón Diesel.
