"The Mar Abierto Festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is not only an essential event on the cultural agenda of the Canary Islands but has also consolidated its position as one of the most outstanding cultural projects in the archipelago."
As part of its commitment to local talent, the festival will host the second edition of the Talento en Mar Abierto competition. This initiative provides emerging bands and artists from the archipelago with the opportunity to integrate into the program, gain visibility, and become part of an already established cultural event in the islands.
The director of Institutional Relations for Turismo de Islas Canarias emphasized the firm commitment to culture as a key value for diversifying and enriching the destination. Similarly, the Culture councilor of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council highlighted the festival's close ties with the city, considering it a fundamental part of its cultural life and a driving force for revitalization.

"Mar Abierto is already part of the cultural life of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Those who fill the theaters are the city's residents, and that shows we are dealing with a consolidated project, deeply rooted in the citizenry and with a real capacity to boost cultural activity."
The promoter's director stressed that the Mar Abierto Festival has grown and evolved while always maintaining quality and providing real value to the territory. He underscored culture's ability to generate activity, employment, and economic movement across various sectors, from artistic to technical, logistical, communication, transport, and hospitality.
