During June, July, and early August, a total of 69 activities were carried out, aimed at educational centers, social groups, associations, and summer groups from various municipalities in Fuerteventura.
The Minister of Environment, Carlos Rodríguez, highlighted the positive reception of the program, which continues to be a key tool for fostering knowledge and respect for Fuerteventura's natural heritage. The Council recently reinforced this initiative with a new contract to improve and expand its activities in the coming years.
The activities have reached participants of all ages and profiles, including students from Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education, as well as associations and summer groups, covering all the island's municipalities.
The proposals have addressed topics such as waste reduction and recycling, coastal conservation, wildlife recovery, knowledge of Majorera biodiversity, and interpretive trails through natural spaces. Workshops, talks, visits, and itineraries adapted to each group's characteristics have been combined.
Among the most notable lines of work are ‘I Think 3Rs and Act’, with high participation, and ‘Coast in Sight’, with numerous interventions along the coast. Actions from the ‘Back Home’ program, focused on the conservation of sea turtles, and interpretive tours under the ‘Green Footprints’ initiative have also been carried out.
With these results, the Fuerteventura Council reaffirms its commitment to environmental education as an essential tool for promoting responsible habits and citizen involvement in the conservation of the island's natural heritage.
