Strong winds recorded this Thursday in the Canary Islands archipelago led to the diversion of eight flights, primarily affecting Fuerteventura, where five connections could not land.

According to sources from Aena, adverse weather conditions forced the redirection of aircraft bound for the airports of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.
The island of Fuerteventura experienced the highest impact, with five flights unable to complete their landing. Two of these connections, originating from Tenerife North and Gran Canaria, had to return to their departure airports.
Additionally, three other flights that had departed from Seville, Madrid, and Warsaw were diverted to Tenerife South Airport, as normal operations were not possible on the majorera island.
Incidents also occurred in Gran Canaria, where a flight from Gothenburg was also redirected to Tenerife South. In the case of Lanzarote, two planes originating from London Stansted and Dublin followed the same alternative destination.
The intense wind gusts complicated air operations for much of the day, altering scheduled routes and causing inconvenience to numerous passengers.
