The Fuerteventura Health Area has emphasized group interventions for individuals with mild mental health issues, benefiting approximately 50 patients.

The Fuerteventura Health Area, under the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Health, has highlighted group interventions as part of its Psychological Care program. These initiatives, piloted on the island, aim to provide earlier and continuous psychological support, offering a shared space for exchanging experiences and normalizing emotional distress.
The Primary Care Psychology team, comprising five professionals covering all Basic Health Zones on the island, works to bring psychological care closer to the population. The integration of psychologists into the Canary Islands Health Service's Primary Care is part of the Canary Islands Mental Health Plan and the +AP Strategy, strengthening the first level of care with a community, preventive, and recovery-focused approach.
Since 2022, 53 Psychology professionals have been integrated across the archipelago. These professionals conduct structured interventions for the assessment, prevention, and early management of mild to moderate mental health problems, aiming to prevent chronicity and enhance comprehensive care.
Specifically, the Basic Health Zone (ZBS) of Puerto del Rosario has hosted the third edition of the Brief Emotional Intelligence Workshop. This workshop, for 36 individuals on the waiting list, consists of four weekly 90-minute sessions focusing on strategies for recognizing, understanding, and regulating emotions, along with mindfulness and self-regulation techniques.
Participants create an 'emotional emergency kit' and a personal practice plan. The intervention is evaluated using instruments such as the TMMS-24, the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ).
Additionally, between January and July, the Antigua ZBS hosted Emotional Wellbeing workshops for 17 individuals, featuring ten group sessions focused on stress management, understanding anxiety, and developing coping strategies for daily life, thereby enhancing personal autonomy and self-care.
