The new edition of the ‘We Are & Wir Sind Fuerteventura’ courses aims to enhance the linguistic skills of the island's residents, a key factor for boosting employment opportunities, particularly in the service sector. This initiative, running uninterruptedly since 2016, seeks to equip the tourism sector and the general population with tools to improve their English and German proficiency.
This year, the offer expands to 350 places and, in response to student demand, a third level in both languages is being introduced. The agreement was signed at the Casa Palacio del Cabildo Insular, attended by Nuria Cabrera Méndez, Minister of Finance, Economic Promotion, Human Resources, Sports, and Sustainable Mobility of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura; Gorety Almeida Hernández, General Director of ecca.edu; and Carmen Nieves Hernández Díaz, Head of ecca.edu in Fuerteventura. This strategic alliance reinforces the shared commitment to providing accessible and inclusive education.
The program, supported by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), utilizes the ecca System, combining flexibility with educational materials adapted to everyday situations in Fuerteventura. Among the student profile are professionals from hospitality, transport, commerce, local security forces, healthcare personnel, and workers from Fuerteventura Airport.
To facilitate work-life balance, weekly in-person tutorials will be held at strategic points across the island: La Oliva, Puerto del Rosario, Gran Tarajal, and Costa Calma.
