The Directorate General of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy has recorded 366 blood donations in Canary Islands educational centers during May, obtaining 1,098 essential blood components for the Archipelago's hospitals.

The initiative, part of a program to promote donation among students, aims to connect health education with social participation, using educational centers as key awareness points.
The project employs the Learning and Service methodology, allowing students to engage with the healthcare reality and the direct impact of blood donation on hospital care. It also seeks to instill awareness habits from an early age to ensure stable blood reserves.
Campaigns were held in various centers across Gran Canaria, including Colegio Santa Bárbara in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, CEIP Carlos Socas Muñoz in Ingenio, CEIP 20 de Enero in Agüimes, and CEPA La Herradura in Telde. In Tenerife, participants included Colegio Británico S21 and CPEIPS Nuryana in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, as well as IES Los Cardones in Granadilla de Abona. In Lanzarote, the activity took place at CEIP Rafael Cedrés in Tías.
The 366 donations resulted in 1,098 blood components, a crucial figure for the ordinary functioning of hospitals within the Canary Islands Health Service. Each donation is processed to separate blood components used in various treatments.
The Directorate General of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy expressed gratitude for the "involvement of the management teams, teaching staff, and participating educational communities," deeming their collaboration "fundamental for the success of these solidarity events."
