The Cabildo announced yesterday that the yellow team will adopt this protocol, known as the 'Bernabéu formula', to allow for the remodeling and expansion work on the venue, which aims to become a state-of-the-art facility with a capacity of 44,462 spectators.
This measure, supported by the Professional Football League, does not affect the current 26-27 season. The works, with a final cost of 234 million euros, will focus on the period from June to October, ensuring the stadium is ready to host group stage matches for the 2030 World Cup.
UD Las Palmas will contribute 60 million euros to the stadium's reconstruction. This strategy of playing away at the beginning and end of the campaign has already been implemented in other Spanish stadiums such as Reale Arena in San Sebastián, San Mamés, Santiago Bernabéu, La Cerámica, and Ciudad de Valencia.
