The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has formally joined the Canary Islands Government's security network, a strategic move to fortify its digital infrastructure against potential cyberattacks.

This agreement, approved by the Island Government Council, will grant the institution access to the specialized services of the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT-CAN). These services are designed to monitor, identify, and coordinate responses to network threats, significantly expanding the surveillance and reaction capabilities in cybersecurity.
The integration not only strengthens the Cabildo's internal systems but also makes it an active part of a regional cybersecurity network that coordinates public administrations across the Canary Islands. The plan includes a rapid response service, the deployment of detection probes, and training and awareness programs for staff, aiming to embed cybersecurity into the organizational culture.

"The signing of the agreement strengthens our own systems and integrates us into a regional cybersecurity network coordinated among the Canary Islands public administrations."

The agreement, valid until December 31, 2027, with a possible extension, also includes advice for compliance with the National Security Scheme, an essential framework for protecting information systems in the public sector. Through CSIRT-CAN, the Cabildo will have reactive services to manage incidents, proactive services to prevent risks, and value-added services to optimize processes.
A “cybersecurity package” will be installed in the Cabildo's facilities, which will not only enhance internal protection but also provide CSIRT-CAN with valuable information on attack patterns and behaviors detected in the island environment. This measure aims to ensure a continuous and coordinated digital security strategy.
