The majority of this budget, 12.3 million euros funded by FEDER, is allocated to the four reference hospitals in the archipelago. The primary goal is to renovate thermal production systems, air handling units, and the electrical installations required to ensure the proper operation of the new equipment.
Additionally, 2.3 million euros from Next Generation funds have been allocated to carry out improvements in health centers and hospitals on the non-capital islands. These actions include the replacement of chiller plants in centers such as Doctoral, Maspalomas, and San Isidro, as well as at the La Palma University Hospital.
These interventions are part of the Zero Emissions Health strategy, launched in 2022, which seeks to transform the public health network into a more efficient and sustainable system. The plan includes the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.
