The ‘Canarias suena’ stand, located in the Plaza de la Música in Gran Canaria, has become the meeting point for over 40 Canarian artists and groups seeking to connect with the international music industry at the WOMEX fair, running until Sunday the 25th.

Gran Canaria is hosting WOMEX, the most important international professional fair for world music, from today until next Sunday the 25th. The ‘Canarias suena’ stand, situated in the Plaza de la Música, will serve as a showcase for the diversity of the islands' sounds, under the slogan ‘Music, culture and connections. From the Canary Islands to the world’.
Thanks to the participation of over 40 Canarian artists and groups, professionals from around the world will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the cultural richness and uniqueness of the archipelago. This artistic representation is the result of a call from the Government of the Canary Islands to the islands' music sector.
The island artists, who have professional accreditation for WOMEX, will use the ‘Canarias suena’ space to hold meetings, present materials, arrange interviews, and showcase their proposals, aiming to foster new contacts and opportunities in international markets.
The activity of Canarian artists at WOMEX began yesterday, Wednesday the 22nd, with the participation of Ale Acosta, Julia Rodríguez, and Marta Bolaños in the opening concert. Today, Thursday the 23rd, the stand was officially inaugurated. Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th will feature networking events starting at 12:00 PM, with a tasting of local products in collaboration with GMR Canarias.
