The Fuerteventura Island Council has launched the program for the III National Timple Encounter, taking place from October 22-25 at the Palace of Training and Congresses, including the presentation of the second edition of the 'Timple' magazine.

The Palace of Training and Congresses of Fuerteventura is hosting the III National Timple Encounter, which began today and will run until October 25. The event commenced with the presentation of the second issue of the magazine Timple, the first monographic publication dedicated to this instrument in the Canary Islands.
Marcos Hormiga, the magazine's coordinator, expressed his pride in the publication, highlighting its informational value for the present and future generations. The Timple magazine features established and emerging performers such as Domingo Rodríguez ‘El Colorao’, Benito Cabrera, David Duque, Derque Martín Cruz, Julia Rodríguez, Laura Martel, and Pedro Ageno, alongside writers like Elsa López, Félix Hormiga, Yeray Rodríguez, and Marcos Hormiga himself.
The publication also includes contributions from researchers such as Félix Morales and Víctor J. Landeria, and journalists like Juan García Luján, who writes about the influential figure of José Antonio Ramos in the world of the timple.
The president of the Fuerteventura Island Council, Lola García, stated that “the timple is the most representative instrument of our culture,” praising the legacy of Fuerteventura's timple players and researchers preserved in publications like Timple. Meanwhile, the Minister of Culture, Rayco León, emphasized the importance of reflecting the voices of composers, performers, and writers in this magazine, which will be distributed to schools and libraries to enhance the instrument's profile.
Domingo Rodríguez ‘El Colorao’ recalled the idea of creating a specialized timple magazine, similar to those for other traditional instruments, aiming to foster its growth and the momentum of the National Encounter.
The Ministry of Culture is organizing the encounter, with artistic direction by Domingo Rodríguez `El Colorao and the collaboration of the Fuerteventura Insular Music School. Today's program includes the exhibition ‘Timple, tradition and avant-garde’ by David Sánchez and a workshop on creating timples from recycled materials led by Adán Moreno. At 8:30 PM, a concert by Pino&Pino will take place.
Activities continue until October 25, with the full program available at https://culturafuerteventura.es/evento/iii-encuentro-nacional-del-timple/. The encounter will have an ongoing annual presence with activities in educational centers.
