The General Directorate of Emergencies has made this decision based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, in accordance with the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena Risks (PEFMA).
The alert will affect the southern half of Fuerteventura; the east, south, west, and peaks of Gran Canaria; and the south of the metropolitan area and southern areas of the island of Tenerife. An increase in maximum temperatures is expected, particularly in inland, mid-altitude, and high-altitude areas.
In Fuerteventura, maximum temperatures of 30-32 degrees Celsius are expected in inland and southeastern coastal areas. In Gran Canaria, the peaks (Tejeda basin) and southern and western mid-altitude areas above 500-600 meters could exceed 34 degrees Celsius, with local highs of up to 37 degrees Celsius in the southeast. In Tenerife, 30-32 degrees Celsius are expected in mid-altitude and low-lying areas of the southern slope and the metropolitan area, with local temperatures potentially reaching 34 degrees Celsius.
