Canary Islands Rally Causes Road Closures in Gran Canaria Throughout the Weekend

The motorsport competition, running until Sunday, will affect various roads in several municipalities across the island.

The Canary Islands Rally, which commenced on Thursday, April 24, and will continue until Sunday, April 26, will lead to significant traffic disruptions and road closures across Gran Canaria throughout the weekend.

This year's motorsport event features an unprecedented four-day format, having already completed the shakedown in Santa Brígida and the initial stage at the Gran Canaria Stadium. The competition will now move to the island's roads, necessitating closures and detours that will impact residents in various municipalities.
The closures will be implemented in different sections and at various times, affecting both main and municipal roads. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and seek alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
On Friday, April 24, special stages in Valleseco - Artenara, Tejeda - San Mateo, and Mogán - La Aldea will result in closures on roads such as GC-21, GC-230, GC-150, GC-70, GC-600, GC-130, GC-42, GC-15, and GC-200, with closure times extending from the previous night until the afternoon of the same day.
On Saturday, April 25, the Fataga - Maspalomas, Arucas - Teror, and Moya - Gáldar stages will involve restrictions on the GC-60, GC-43, GC-240, GC-30, GC-21, GC-752, GC-75, GC-700, GC-70, GC-710, and GC-220 roads, with closures scheduled from Friday night until Saturday afternoon.
Finally, on Sunday, April 26, the Ingenio - Valsequillo and Santa Lucía - Agüimes stages will affect roads GC-120, GC-130, GC-131, GC-132, GC-41, GC-104, GC-65, and GC-551, as well as several municipal roads, with closures remaining in effect until Sunday afternoon.
